About Us
Walking alongside communities to create lasting change
Who We Are
Abel Rotich Foundation began with a vision: that every person in Kenya, regardless of their circumstances, deserves dignity, opportunity, and hope. We're a community of changemakers - staff, volunteers, partners, and donors - united by our commitment to addressing the most urgent needs facing vulnerable communities.
We don't believe in temporary fixes. Instead, we work shoulder-to-shoulder with communities to create sustainable solutions that address both immediate crises and long-term challenges. Whether we're distributing emergency food supplies, organizing free medical camps, or providing scholarships to bright students, everything we do is rooted in respect, partnership, and the belief that lasting change comes from within communities themselves.
Our Mission
To restore dignity and unlock potential in every life we touch by providing nourishment, promoting health, and enabling learning.
Our Vision
A Kenya where no child goes to bed hungry, where every family can access healthcare when they need it, and where education opens doors to opportunity for all - especially those who have been left behind.
Our Core Values
The principles that guide every decision we make and every action we take
Compassion
We see the person behind every statistic. Every decision we make is guided by empathy, understanding, and a deep commitment to human dignity.
Equity
We prioritize those who are most marginalized and vulnerable. Fairness isn't just about equal treatment - it's about ensuring everyone has what they need to thrive.
Integrity
We hold ourselves accountable to the communities we serve, our donors, and our partners. Transparency isn't optional - it's fundamental to who we are.
Collaboration
We can't do this work alone, and we don't try to. Real change happens when communities, organizations, and individuals come together with shared purpose.
Impact
We measure success not by our intentions, but by tangible outcomes. Every program we run is designed to create measurable, lasting change.
Dignity
We treat everyone we serve as partners in development, not passive recipients of charity. Every person deserves respect and agency in their own journey.

"I am because we are" — Ubuntu
At the heart of the Abel Rotich Foundation lies the enduring African philosophy of Ubuntu — "I am because we are." It is this belief in shared humanity, collective strength, and the duty to uplift one another that forms the cornerstone of Abel's work and vision. Every initiative of the Foundation is rooted in this truth — that progress is meaningful only when it uplifts all.
Hon. Abel Rotich, MBS, was born in Uasin Gishu County, the son of hardworking parents who instilled in him the values of service and community. From a young age, he witnessed the struggles in his community: children missing meals, families without basic health care, and young people discouraged by lack of opportunity. As he progressed into public life, Abel dedicated himself to bridging the gap between policy and people.
His deep empathy for underserved communities, combined with his leadership roles, led him to conceive of a structured effort to make lasting change. In recognition of his public service and commitment to upliftment, he was awarded the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS) — a testament to his dedication. But he did not see the honor as the culmination of his journey, but rather as a mandate.
The Abel Rotich Foundation was born from this conviction: to translate influence into impact, to turn public trust into social investment, and to ensure that every meal, every health clinic, and every scholarship opens doors to dignity, hope, and opportunity.
